Visionpool Business Serv ices is hiring a Power BI Developer with Business Analysis capabilities to support the migration of legacy WebFOCUS reporting to Microsoft Fabric.  This role will take a leading position in analyzing, migrating, and rebuilding existing reports in Power BI, ensuring current reporting capabilities are maintained while aligning with the target platform. This role will act as a key delivery contributor for the reporting migration, working independently to interpret legacy reports and implement equivalent solutions in Fabric.  In addition to reporting migration, the resource will provide Business Analysis support to the broader data platform migration, working with the Solution/Data Architect and project team to: 

  • Assist with documentation and analysis 

  • Support clarification of data and reporting requirements 

  • Contribute to alignment between reporting, data models, and business definitions 

  • Assist in organizational change management activities by providing support for overall Power BI adoption 

Business engagement for reporting will remain focused on clarification and validation of existing requirements, not the development of new reporting solution.  The resource will support both reporting migration delivery and business analysis activities across the Fabric/data platform initiative. 

Reporting Migration (Primary Responsibility) 

  • Analyze and interpret existing WebFOCUS reports, logic, and data dependencies 

  • Recreate reports in Power BI with alignment to current functionality 

  • Apply practical adjustments where required due to platform differences 

  • Ensure reports are usable, performant, and aligned with modern standards 

Business Analysis – Reporting  

  • Engage stakeholders to clarify existing reporting logic and definitions 

  • Validate migrated reports against business expectations 

  • Resolve discrepancies between legacy outputs and current data 

  • Document report definitions, calculations, and assumptions 

  • Business Analysis – Data Platform (Supporting Role) 

  • Assist the Solution/Data Architect and project team with BA deliverables as required 

  • Support documentation of data requirements, data flows, and transformations 

  • Contribute to analysis of source-to-target mappings and data structures 

  • Help ensure alignment between reporting requirements and underlying data models 

  • Provide general analytical support across the Fabric migration initiative 

  • Delivery Execution 

  • Develop Power BI datasets, models, and reports 

  • Support testing, validation, and user acceptance 

  • Work within defined priorities to progress the migration backlog 

REMOTE WORK MAY BE CONSIDERED BUT ON SITE IN REGINA, SK WOULD BE PREFERRED 

Qualifications: 

  1. Demonstrated expertise in the following competencies: 

  1. Power BI Development & Data Modeling 

  1. Strong experience developing reports, datasets, and semantic models using DAX, Power Query, and standard modeling practices. 

  1. Reporting Migration & Legacy Translation 

  1. Experience analyzing and recreating reports from legacy BI platforms, with the ability to interpret and translate existing logic into Power BI. 

  1. Data Validation & Reconciliation 

  1. Proven ability to validate outputs against source systems, identify discrepancies, and ensure accuracy. 

  1. Business Analysis – Reporting 

  1. Ability to clarify and document existing reporting logic, definitions, and calculations with stakeholders for validation purposes. 

  1. Business Analysis – Data Platform Support 

  1. Experience supporting data initiatives through documentation, analysis, and collaboration with architects and technical teams. 

  1. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication 

  1. Effective communication with business and technical stakeholders to support clarification, validation, and alignment. 

  1. Collaboration & Delivery 

  1. Ability to work with architects and project resources and deliver independently in a project environment.
